The Wandsworth Lunatic Asylum — admissions dispute / North District Schools expenditure
A letter was read from the clerk of the peace at the Wandsworth and Clapham Guardians' meeting, stating that the Justices at quarter sessions had considered the application that the lunatic asylum on Wandsworth Common should receive patients from the adjoining parishes in preference to those from outlying districts. The Justices would be glad to meet the wishes of the Guardians as far as possible, but reminded them that patients from the Croydon, Epsom, Godstone, Kingston, and Richmond unions must be received at the Wandsworth Asylum at any time, while the Wandsworth and Clapham Union sent their patients one half-year to Wandsworth and the other half-year to Brookwood.

The London and South-Western Railway proposed to construct a railway about a quarter of a mile long, to commence at a junction with the main line just westward of the Royal Freemasons' School, Wandsworth Common, and terminating at a junction with the Richmond Railway at Clapham Junction station. The scheme also included widening on both sides of the main railway between Barnes and Clapham Junction. The Wandsworth District Board was to oppose the bill, seeking the insertion of clauses to protect the interests of the inhabitants.
