"Dig for Victory" cup — a mistake rectified, Mr Freeman of Bramfield Road wins

On re-checking the list of competitors in the recent "Dig for Victory" contest, a mistake was found in the award of the silver cup for the best allotment in Battersea. The Ministry of Agriculture had originally announced the winner as Mr George Biggs of 220 Battersea Bridge Road, cultivating Allotment 104 in Battersea Park. On discovery of the error, it emerged that the rightful winner was Mr H.J. Freeman of 90 Bramfield Road, who also cultivated Allotment 104 — but whose plot was on Wandsworth Common, not in Battersea Park.
